About Itmad-ud-Daula

Itimad ud Daulah also popular as Mini Taj is located in the Agra city of Uttar Pradesh state of India. Itimad ud Daulah is often referred as a jewel box also. Itimad Ud Daulah was built around 1628. Itimad ud Daulah was commissioned by Nur Jahan who was the wife of Emperor Jahangir for her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Mirza Ghiyas Beg was given the title of Itimad Ud Daulah which means poillar of the state. Itimad ud Daulah is often called a copy of Taj Mahal and it is the first tomb in India which was made entirely of marble. Tomb of Itimad ud Daulah is the sign of shift of Mughal architecture from first phase to second. Itimad ud Daulah was the first monument which used of pietra dura and also the first to be built on Yamuna River Bank. It was Itimad ud Daulah only which inspired Shahjahan to make one of seven wonders of the world Taj Mahal.
