About Kankaria Lake
Kankaria Lake is located in the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Kankaria Lake is the second largest lake of Ahmedabad and is situated in eastern part of Ahmedabad in Maninagar area. Kankaria Lake was completed in fifteenth century during the rule of Sultan Qutb Ud Din Ahmad Shah II. Earlier Kankaria Lake was used for bathing by the king. Now, Kankaria Lake is a major tourist spot of Ahmedabad. Kankaria Lake was revamped as a tourist spot around 2008 and now offers some great entertainment activities such as train ride, ultra modern high speed rides, tethered balloon safari and games for small kids. Every year there is a week long Kankaria Carnival kicks off in the month of December which is to celebrate the historical and cultural heritage of Ahmedabad. Kankaria Lake is visited by thousands of tourists and local every year and is one of the major tourist cum picnic spot of Ahmedabad.
