Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Musuem is located in Shahibaug area of Ahmedabad city in Gujarat, India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Museum building is an ancient palace known as Moti Shahi Mahal which was built by the Mughal King Shahjahan between 1618 and 1622. Moti Mahal Palace was a official residence of the Gujarat’s Governor. In 1978 building was transformed into a National Memorial dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by Shri Babubhai Jasbhai Patel, the Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat during that time. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Museum is surrounded with lush green garden.  Inside the museum one can see the documentaries related to life story of Sardar Patel. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel museum has all modern facilties such as LCD Displays, Jail Zone, Multi Touch tablets, multimedia halls and many more.  Museum has a 3D South, light and laser show providing story of India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel memorial is situated on the ground floor which has a central hall along with four adjacent rooms. The central hall has portraits of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, his family, colleagues and friends. The other two out of four adjacent rooms has relics of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s life, his personal possessions and political cartoons from newspapers of that time. Apart from Patel’s life, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel museum has two other rooms exhibiting portraits, pictures, quotes, statues and books on the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Guru Rabindranath Tagore.
