The Calico Museum of Textiles

Calico Textile Museum is located in Ahmedabad City of Gujarat State, India. Calico Textile Museum was established in the year 1949 by Gautam Sarabhai who was an industrialist with his sister Gir Sarabhai. During that time textile industry was flourishing. Calico Textile Museum is managed by Sarabhai Foundation. At the time of establishment the Calico Textile Museum was situated at the Calico Mills which was the heart of the textile industry. But in the year 1983 it was shifted to Sarabhai House as the collection was increasing with each passing year. The museum is surrounded with green garden and fountain with makes is special. In the museum you can see famous work such as beads, silk threads, sequins and mirrors as well as fabrics which is of 17 century. Calico Textile Museum also has an library which houses several books related to textile and art.
