Harmirsar Lake

Hamirsar Lake is situated in Bhuj in state of Gujarat, India. Hamirsar Lake is a large artificial lake in the heart of Bhuj. It is believed that Hamirsar Lake is more than 450 years old and is named after the founder of Bhuj, Rao Hamir. The main idea for making Hamirsar Lake was to meet the water requirements of Bhuj. Hamirsar Lake is spread in over 28 acres. Hamirsar Lake is a famous picnic spot for the locals to relax and enjoy with family. Hamirsar Lake is surrounded with beautiful garden. Hamirsar Lake is also famous among morning and evening joggers. From Hamirsar Lake you can have an beautiful view of Aina Mahal, Kutch Museum and Prgam Mahal. From Hamirsar Lake tourist can visit some other important places such as Swaminarayan Temple, Sharad Baug Palace, Kutch Museum, Ramkund Stepwell, royal Chhatardis and many more. Hamirsar Lake was ruined after 2001 earthquake. Later the municipality and people of Bhuj came together to revive the water system in its original form. This work was completed in 2003 and again Hamirsar Lake was fully functional.
