This place is a trekker's paradise, known to offer breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks and for its local apple orchards. After Diwali, the idol of Goddess Ganga is brought down from Gangotri and kept at Mukhba village near Harsil. The idol remains there all over the winter when Gangotri is snowbound and unreachable. The Shiva Temple at Dharali is its prime attraction.The temperature of Harsil remains pleasant during summer and it reaches a freezing point in winter.
