Shri Kedarnath Jyotirlinga Temple

Kedarnath temple is a popular Hindu temple and dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Kedarnath Temple is one of the most sacred temples and the holiest Hindu pilgrimages in India. The Temple is located in the Garhwal Himalayan Range in the Rudraprayag District, Uttarakhand and is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples of Lord Shiva. Kedarnath Temple is said to have been constructed by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century A.D. It is one of the Char Dhams pilgrimage circuits. The temple remained closed for almost 6 months. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the opening date was announced. During the winters, the deity is shifted from Kedarnath Temple to Ukhitmath, where the deity is worshiped for the next six months. Kedarnath was the worst affected during the 2013 flash floods in North India. However, the temple structure did not suffer any "major" damage.
