About Tomb of Akbar The Great Area
Tomb of Akbar often known as Sikandra also is located around 3kms from Agra. Akbar started building of this tomb during his lifetime only however, it was completed after his death by his son Emperor Jahangir. Akbar’s Tomb at Sikandra has a big arched entrance and green lawns. Some of the design of Akbar’s Tomb were later used in Taj Mahal construction. Akbar’s Tomb was built of sandstone and white marble. Akbar’s Tomb is spread in 119 acres of area. Adjoining to Tomb of Akbar, there is another Tomb of Mariam Uz Zamani Begam (Wife of Akbar) which is about an kilometer from Tomb of Akbar. Entrance of Tomb of Akbar is decorated with marble inlay work and dome of the tomb is decorated with flower images.
