Rann of Kutch

Rann of Kutch is located in Thar Desert in Kutch District near to Bhuj in Gujarat, India. Rann of Kutch which is also known as White Desert is a salt marsh spread in an area of around 7500 km and is one of the largest salt deserts of the world. Rann of Kutch is inhabited by Kutch people. The Great Rann of Kutch with Little Rann of Kutch and Banni Grasslands is situated in Kutch district which covers around 30000 square km from Gulf of Kutch till the mouth of Indus River in southern Pakistan. The Great Rann of Kutch along with Little Rann of Kutch is called Rann of Kutch. Rann of Kutch is located at a distance of around 90 km from Bhuj. Rann of Kutch is a salty desert which is about 15 meters above sea level and provides a mesmerizing view of sunrise and sunset. Every year Kutch Mahotsav is celebrated here in month of December and January for about forty days. During Rann of Kutch festival which is also known as Rann Utsav tourists can see colorfully dressed dancers and musicians perform traditional folk songs and dances and tourist can stay at desert camp. Every year tourists in large numbers from all over the world visits Rann of Kutch during Rann of Kutch festival.
