Rashtrapati Bhavan or The President House houses the President of India. President House is the beautiful mixture of an Old Charm and Modern dynamism. President House is located on the west side of Rajpath in New Delhi. As a home of the First Citizen of India, President House is stands as a perfect secular character. In 1911 the British Government decided to make Delhi as a India’s Capital replacing Kolkata. During that time only a decision was taken that British Viceroy’s residence will be built in Delhi. Architectures from England were called in Delhi to work out a plan for this. President House is spread across a 330 acre area in which only 5 acre is the covered area. President House is a world largest residence of any head of state. President House is an H shaped building which is divided into three blocks and can be reached by people authorised by President House officials. The idea of constructing it was of Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. President House has total of 340 rooms which includes Presdient’s official residence, guest rooms, reception halls and offices. President House has a huge Presidential garden including the world famous Mughal Garden. Nearest Metro Station to reach Parliament House is Central Secretariat on the Yellow Line.
